EAR TRAINING

Identify Intervals

Level 6 must be able to distinguish , m2, M3, m3, P4, P5, M6, m6, M7, m7 P8 by ear
There are 2 websites to help you with this.

Identify Scales
Level 6 must be able to distinguish Major, Natural Minor, Harmonic minor, Chromatic, and Mode by ear

THEORY

Identify and Write Intervals
Level 6 must be able to identify AND write M2, m2, M3, m3, P4, P5, M6, m6, M7, m7 P8

  • Visit Teoria
    Choose English
    Check the boxes of the intervals you wish to review.  You may find it most helpful to only review a few at a time (ofr example, work on Minor 2, Major 2, Minor 7, Major 7).  On the right side, choose sharps and flats.  Make sure all the other boxes are unchecked.
    Do this exercise for 10 minutes and record your score and bring it to me.

Identify and Write Chords
Level 6 must be able to identify AND write Major and minor triads (white key only)

Identify and Write Scales
Level 6 must be able to identify AND write white key Major, natural minor, and harmonic minor scales, and well as white key modes

Identify and Write Key Signatures
Level 6 must be able to identify any white key Majors and relative minors, and write any white key Major key signature

    This may take a while to load. Please be patient.
    In the first drop down box, choose: Only Major keys
    In the second drop down box, choose: Sharps and Flats or whichever one you want to drill
    In the fourth drop down box, choose: Ask Relative Maj, min
    Click "Start" in the upper right hand corner
    Click "Go Ahead" after that
    Remember that Upper case letters (like G) are Major keys, lower case letters (like g) are minor
